10 Ways to Personalize Your Wedding Details

Even though a lot of wedding plans might be up in the air right now, one thing is for certain - at some point we will return to normalcy and will be dancing and laughing at your weddings. So if you’re in the middle of wedding planning, here are some cute ideas on how to bring your personality to the big day!

  1. Use Your Furry Friends

Most of us who have a furry friend (or three) in our lives don’t always have the option of having them physically present on wedding day. It doesn’t mean you can’t get them involved in a myriad of ways! Below, Monica and Michael’s dog, Thatcher, made his debut as a signature cocktail, while Allison and Matt offered “doggie” bags for guest with actual dogs. And Becky gifted Tim cufflinks of their beloved cat, Lucy.

2. Create Custom Cake Toppers

From your new married name, date, a fave song lyric, or even an inside joke, your cake topper is a really fun way to bring personality to an otherwise typical wedding detail. Most couples use Etsy to find one that fits their style. Justin and Ashlee got their name, date and furkids into one topper, while Ben and Caroline opted for a Jack Johnson lyric, and Alyson and Jason’s inside joke made for a unique topper.

3. Have Fun with Food

Whether it’s a take-home favor or just something to indulge in at the wedding, say it with your fave food! Kat and Tim had custom beef jerky made, Keiasha and Rob had monogrammed cookies, while Melinda and Michael proudly displayed their fave donuts. And yes, we can personally attest to their deliciousness of all of them.

4. Custom Monogram or Initials Design

Monograms are making a comeback in unique and modern ways, and we love seeing the ways couples are personally designing them into their day. Roxy leveraged David’s design skills for a custom mark on the invites, while Rob’s sister designed their monogram gobo, and Kelly and Frank had a modern monogram theme on their programs.

Hashtags aren’t a novel concept, but we love seeing how creative couples are getting with them!

6. Fun and Games

Who says your reception can’t include guests in a little friendly competition?! Couples have been showing off their love of games in creative ways. Lucy and Matt had their own version of Pictionary—and Madlibs! While Alyson and Jason entertained guests with lawn games.

7. Wear It!

You can put just about anything on any article of clothing these days, and we have loved seeing the unique ways that couples are using wearables to personalize their wedding. Below, Tori had custom “Mrs Howell” Converse made, while Kelly and Frank made custom swag so everyone could wear it, and Ronnie and Tim May’s 4th wedding honored Star Wars with some super fun socks.

8. Handmade Favors

Got extra time? (Probably these days!) Might be the moment to take a crack at homemade items to say thank you to your guests with love (and some $ savings!) Below, Laura and Dane’s beach wedding included handmade, personalized sand dollars, while Lucy and Matt offered a few of Lucy’s paintings as a take home gift! Johnny and Rob made mugs of hot cocoa with a custom monogram - which yes, are sitting in our kitchen waiting for a winter night to enjoy!

9. Friendly Faces

We’ve seen a few couples get cute and use their actual faces throughout the wedding. Below, Frank and Caitlin come to life as signature cocktails, and Stacie’s bridesmaids turn groom, Ralph, into a fun prop. David and Roxy use their engagement images as signage throughout the event.

10. Something old, Something new, Something sentimental to you

Lastly, we love when couples simply display or use items that represent a fave pastime, a family heirloom, or a simple remembrance. Below, Courtney and Eric toast with her parents’ wedding champagne flutes, Laura includes a thumb print pendant of her late father on her bouquet, and Camille and ZQ include legos in their day - a fave past time of the groom’s.
